Thrown sends one kind of text message: a party invitation, when a host invites you by text. This page covers who sends it, how your number reaches us, how often you will hear from us, what it costs, and how to make it stop.
Thrown is a party-planning app run by Thrown LLC. Hosts plan their parties on Thrown and invite their guests, and one way a host can invite someone is by text. When they do, Thrown sends that guest one text message from Thrown's own number with the host's name, the party's name, and the guest's own private link to the invitation, where they can see the details and RSVP.
That invitation is the only kind of text Thrown sends. The first text Thrown sends to a number starts with “Thrown:”, so you know who it is from, and ends with “Reply STOP to opt out”. So does the next one once 30 days have gone by. A text in between leaves both off: it is the host's name, the party's name and your link, and nothing else. Replying STOP works on every one of them. We do not send marketing, advertising or promotions by text.
Here is what one looks like:
Thrown: The Parkers are throwing Jordan's 30th, you're invited https://thrown.party/i/... Reply STOP to opt out
The link is different for every guest: it opens that guest's own invitation.
A phone number reaches Thrown in one of two ways, and in both of them Thrown texts it only with consent.
Unchecked until the guest checks it, and not needed to RSVP. It appears once the guest has typed a mobile number.
Required. The send button stays off until the host checks it, and it starts unchecked every time.
Message frequency varies with how many parties you are invited to. Usually it is one text per party: the host's invitation, sent once. A host can only send it again if the first one failed to go through.
Thrown never charges you for a text. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
Reply STOP to any text from Thrown and the texts stop. You will get one reply confirming it, and after that Thrown will not text your number again, for any party and from any host.
STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT work the same way. If you change your mind, reply START and texts can reach you again.
You can also email hello@thrown.party and ask us to stop texting your number.
Reply HELP to any text from Thrown for help, or email hello@thrown.party. You can also reach a person through our About page.
We use your phone number to send the texts this page describes and to run the party it belongs to, and for nothing else. Twilio, our messaging provider, delivers each text for us.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.
Our Privacy Policy covers everything else we hold, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed.
These terms are part of our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy applies to your number.
